Growth of SSAGO in Scotland!

This weekend we were hoping to meet up in Perth for our first regional event but the heavy snow has meant that we are postponing it! Instead I thought that I would take the chance to let everyone else know about the growth of Scottish SSAGO!

When I moved to Scotland I hoped that Glasgow SSAGO would bounce back and it certainly has done! During the first few weeks of living in Scotland we also had contact from Edinburgh and Dundee about setting up a new club – Everything was certainly starting to get very exciting! I had also met Rosie (Edinburgh President) at Wellies and Wristbands back in August, never really expecting to meet up with again but ended up meeting when Glasgow visited Edinburgh for a day trip back in October.

With the enthusiasm of members in Scotland I thought it was time to establish a SSAGO region, which has given me the chance to share my experience of national SSAGO more widely, encourage attendance at rallies and to organise events within the area. Scottish SSAGO has regrown this year, now with 3 clubs (Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dundee) and over 40 members. I have also been in contact with Indie members in Inverness and Aberdeen and can’t wait for Scottish SSAGO to grow even further!

I am pleased to say that 4 of us made it to Witan in a weekend rally from Glasgow. Not only that but we successfully won the bid to host Summer Rally 2019 and we can’t wait to show the rest of SSAGO what Scotland has to offer! We are hoping to follow in the footsteps of those previously in 2005 and 2011.

I have really enjoyed spreading the word of SSAGO in Scotland over the past 6 months and look forward to it continuing!
